The Biggest Collabs of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike

As an artist, choosing the right people to collaborate with is an artform in itself. The DJs and producers who take risks, push boundaries, find the perfect voice for the record, bend genres and mash up different styles have created some of the most iconic songs in electronic music.

From Adamski linking up with the then blues singer Seal for the legendary acid house track, “Killer”, in 1990, to The Chemical Brothers working with rapper Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest on “Galvanize” in 2004, it’s clear that there really is magic in collaboration.

Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike are kings of this approach. The Belgian-Greek duo have been twice crowned the number 1 DJs in DJ Mag’s top 100 poll, they’ve got a repertoire of global hit records, and a long list of collaborators to boot. Their Tomorrowland and Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike residency is taking over Wednesdays at Ushuaïa Ibiza 14th May - 24th Sept.

Let’s dive into some of our favourite collaborations of theirs.

UMMET OZCAN

First up we’ve got Turkish-Dutch techno and big room DJ, Ummet Ozcan. In his array of chart hits, Ummet has incorporated a diverse range of instruments and elements, including didgeridoos, flutes, horns and even Mongolian throat singing.

Speaking to EDM ID in 2020, Ummet said, “We were actually working on [“The Hum”] together in Hollywood during a few nightly studio sessions. When the song progressed we had already felt an amazing energy. Sometimes, you can feel it in the air but you cannot get a hold of it. It turned out to be a huge success and “The Hum” can be considered a classic, which I am very proud of!”

About their other hit song, “Beast”, he went on to say, “This one was a big team effort! Mike is a great vocalist who comes up with original enchanting rhymes. Dimi provides the necessary musical input on the mixing, choice of sounds, and arrangement. I am very comfortable working with them. That’s why we team up on a regular basis.”

WIZ KHALIFA

The DJ duo are known for their love of hip hop. Their eclectic sets are seasoned with hip hop samples and remixes, not to mention the fact that they’ve worked with big name rappers such as Gucci Mane, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Jon. For us, their standout rap collab is “When I Grow Up” with Wiz Khalifa from 2018. The Pittsburgh rapper rose to fame with hits like “Young, Wild and Free” and “Black and Yellow”, and his link-up with DVLM is a laid-back, sun-drenched anthem of aspiration.

STEVE AOKI

Electro house pioneer Steve Aoki is one of the brothers’ most frequent collaborators, working together so regularly that in 2014 they decided to make it official, forming the supergroup 3 Are Legend to headline that year’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Since then the trio have headlined Tomorrowland, TomorrowWorld and Creamfields together and released tracks and remixes, including 2022’s “Pump It Up” with Tujamo and Jaxx & Vega featuring Black & White Brothers. Steve will join the brothers at their Ushuaïa Ibiza residency five times this summer, playing every Wednesday from 16th July - 20th August and 10th September.

FATBOY SLIM & DIPLO

Now for something completely different. The year was 2014 and there was something in the air. Fatboy Slim, Diplo, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike decided to put their heads together and make “Eparrei”. The huge song features Brazilian funk group Bonde do Role and Pin, and is a full-flavoured, Latin-inspired carnival banger.

HANS ZIMMER

Lastly, we’ve got an unexpected remix to show you. Nobody saw this one coming and that’s what makes it even more special. In 2017 Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike reworked a piece by the movie soundtrack master, Hans Zimmer. You’ll know Hans from his classic film scores for Gladiator, The Dark Knight, The Lion King, and many others. But it’s his work on Pirates of the Caribbean that drew DVLM into his orbit. The duo were invited to remix his much-loved theme song, “He’s a Pirate”, for the soundtrack of the fifth film in the series, Salazar’s Revenge. It’s not everyday you get to hear an electronic dance remix of a classical Hollywood film score. Enjoy!

Don’t miss the blissful return of the Tomorrowland and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike residency. Wednesdays until 24th Sept. Tickets and VIP tables available now.
