And although what happens in Ibiza, stays in Ibiza, we’re going to let you into a few of the summer of 2018’s best-kept secrets, and tell you what brands are the favourites in the Ushuaïa Ibiza VIP area are.
First we have Veuve Clicquot. Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot, this brand was always made to cross borders. The family had a background in banking and textiles, but decided to take a punt and go into a new venture to make use of their vineyards. But in 1805 Monsieur Clicquot died, leaving his widow Barbe-Nicole Clicquot at the helm of the family business. She was one of the pioneering business women of modern times and was in charge of managing the brand’s first champagne yield in 1810. Madame Clicquot ignored the continental blockade in 1814 and sent more than 10,000 bottles of champagne to Russia. Not only were her stocks depleted, but her brand took on an excellent reputation. In later years she dared to add the red ‘Bouzy’ grape to her champagne, creating the world’s first pink champagne. Success after success led to LVMH buying the brand in 1986, and in 2015 the "Crayères" Veuve Clicquot wineries in "Colline Saint-Nicaise", was designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Dom Perignon is another brand that’s sipped on day and night at Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel’s best events. The iconic French champagne is one of the world’s oldest. Experts know it for its absolute commitment to vintages, and the Dom Perignon brand is reinvented with every new crop. And it takes risks: on occasions crops have been rejected for not reaching their impeccable quality standard. Each vintage has its own unique flavour thanks to the brand having the privilege of being able to choose from 17 Grands Crus of Champagne. The contrast with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes delights lovers of the world’s most bubbly and hedonistic drink.
Lastly (and we could go on…) we need to talk about vodka. Belvedere vodka, one of the drinks that’ll turn your night into the truly magical, and a drink you’ll find in all Ushuaïa Ibiza’s VIP areas. Also from the French group LVMH this vodka, made from grain, is made in Polmos Żyrardów, Poland. It’s quadruple-distilled, and then left in barrels for its characteristic aroma and taste to develop. The label shows the Belweder de Varsovia, palace, a residence for Polish presidents and heads of state, which is an iconic image and a nod to the exclusivity of anyone tasting it. It has been going for more than 600 years, with strict rules governing its production. Its name, Belvedere, means “beautiful to see”.
